My Review of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and First Wiki Writing Experience

Wikis have been an useful tool for many years whether to look up information about your favourite movie character or an extremely complicated abstract linguistic topic. Today I am very happy to say that I have wrote my first wiki page as a university assignment. It was about a movie review and my choice for that was one of my favourite movies Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

As part of this university assignment I was not alone. I wrote the review with a dear friend of mine from my university Muhammet Berkay Seçer who also has a blog in blogger that you can reach from here.

Our wiki writing process consisted of planning, writing and reviewing the text. We first talked about how and what we should write. Then we got to the actual writing experience which took some time but was very enjoyable. At last we went over what we wrote and we ironed out the wrinkles a bit.

This project gave me some insight on how useful wikis can be. It improved my already existing good relationship with my friend, helped us improve our writing and analysis skills. Wikis can be terrific tools to learn and teach others information and/or opinions with our friends and colleagues. They can easily be implemented as a teaching practise and will definitely help students improve their digital literacy.

Overall I recommend checking out and writing a wiki page.

You can check out the review here.

Thanks for reading and walk tall.

How to Teach a Generation who Cannot Focus?

The future generation education is at our doorsteps. Students that are digital natives who learned to use mobile phones before speaking. Kids who cannot focus for more than five minutes. On the other side, old teachers
who insist on teaching through old methods without using technology. Next to these old teachers, are fresh minded young teachers and candidates, confused as to how they will deal with future obstacles. Dear readers, welcome to 21st Century education. In this blog, I will share my thoughts and opinions on new generation students and education as a teacher candidate.

As a future teacher, I am very much worried about new generation students. Their attention span has been damaged by consuming short length but high quantities of content in digital space. It will be extremely difficult to get them to sit for 40 minutes in a classroom listening to a teacher. That’s why future and current teachers will have to utilise more and more tools, activities, and technology to catch and sustain their focus. In future it will be up to young teachers to develop new tactics and pedagogies for these new students.

Technology usage must be optimised in future classrooms for new generation students. They were 2-3 years old when they learned how to use a mobile phone. They will be more digital natives than us, future teachers are. Governments and states around the world will have to invest in more technological tools for their schools.

Considering all mentioned, future teachers must do more research and studies, read more about 21st century education and observe new generations to prepare for new challenges that awaits them.

Thanks for reading and walk tall.

What is This Blog About?

Hello dear readers and welcome to my blog.

I will be writing this blog to share my thoughts and opinions about educational matters with the perspective of a teacher candidate. As I mentioned this blog will mainly consist of educational matters but every now and then I will share blogs about different topics too. I would be glad if you, dear readers share your comments and opinions so that I can refine my posts and myself.

Thanks in advance for reading and walk tall.
